Chest Pain Center

Our Woodall Chest Pain Center is fully prepared to treat cardiac emergencies around the clock. Emergency and cardiac experts coordinate patient care with local ambulance services even before a patient arrives. Focusing on rapid diagnosis and effective treatment, o Woodall Chest Pain Center is accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC), denoting a higher level of expertise in dealing with patients who arrive with symptoms of a heart attack.

Health Information

Symptoms

Patients who come to the emergency department with chest pain or other acute cardiac symptoms are immediately evaluated; if tests confirm that a heart attack is in progress, the patient is quickly moved to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab in our Heart and Vascular Center for an emergency angioplasty.

Heart attack symptoms include:

  • Pressure, burning, aching or tightness in the chest
  • Nausea
  • Pain that travels down one or both arms
  • Jaw pain
  • Fatigue, exhaustion
  • Anxiety
  • Chest pressure, squeezing or discomfort
  • Back pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Feeling of fullness
  • Women sometimes experience indigestion, back pain and shortness of breath with or without chest pain

Treatment

The digital imaging systems in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab allow our medical team to have a clear view of your heart and blood vessels. This allows us to detect, diagnose and treat heart problems. Treatments include:

  • Angioplasty
  • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)

Post Care

Your Doylestown Health physicians and care team create a personalized plan for your recovery and goals depending on your diagnosis and condition.

Most heart patients are referred to our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program for medically supervised exercise and education.
