Doylestown Health's Della Penna Pediatric Center partners with Roxy Therapy Dogs to share registered therapy dogs with our youngest patients. Visiting with a dog is a way to provide companionship, comfort and support, and to ease anxiety for young patients and their families.
About Roxy Therapy Dogs
Roxy Therapy Dogs is a Bucks County pet therapy organization dedicated to delivering comfort to children. Roxy Therapy Dogs has provided pet therapy services for thousands of children since its inception in 2005 in settings including schools, healthcare facilities and courtrooms. All of the therapy teams who visit our pediatric patients are members of Roxy Therapy Dogs.
Visits With Therapy Dogs
Therapy dogs can provide happiness and stress relief for children in the hospital. Therapy dogs visit children in private inpatient rooms, as well as in the children's playroom in Doylestown Health's Della Penna Pediatric Center.
To ensure the comfort and safety of our pediatric patients, precautions are taken before a therapy visit can take place. Our therapy teams are registered and have been through training to ensure the safety and privacy of our patients. In addition, a parent or guardian must approve all therapy animal visits for pediatric patients.
About Our Therapy Animals
Our therapy dogs are special animals who are cleared and registered to function effectively in a pediatric hospital setting. Handlers are Doylestown Health volunteers and Roxy Therapy Dogs members who have been trained to protect the safety of our patients.
